OpenAIRAN

Software-defined Radio and Cloud Computing make it possible to move network functions from dedicated hardware into virtualized/cloud-native software components. OpenAIRAN is O-RAN compliant, fully containerized works on Open interfaces supporting O-RAN split 7.2x and split 8, and designed to support multiple fronthaul splits simultaneously.

The OpenAIRAN consists of:

OpenAIRAN-CU which supports PDCP and RRC layers is fully containerized and can be deployed on public or private clouds.

• It supports high availability to achieve minimal downtime in case of any CU instance failure.

• The CU handles multiple DU with the same type of latencies that a standard S1 radio could support today.

• The CU is cloud-native, it supports scalability, reliability, and high availability.

OpenAIRAN-DU which Supports RLC, MAC, and HI-PHY layers which are usually deployed at cell sites or local data centers.

OpenAIRAN is flexible and supports multiple deployment options

• CU in public cloud and DU in private cloud.
• CU in the data center and DU in the cell site.
• Both CU and DU in data centers.
• CU and DU on the same server.
